Introducing The 2024 School Mum Planner!

A few years ago, when my daughter started kindergarten, I became a first-time school mum. At the time, I had no idea what being a “school mum” actually entailed. Years later, and from experience, I would describe it like this – Becoming a school mum is like gaining a permanent part-time job that you didn’t actually apply for! 😂

I had no idea that every school year is super busy with a fully booked calendar of events that I need to know about! Many of these are annual (or traditional) events that occur each year, like swimming and athletics carnivals, Easter hat parades, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, Harmony Day, Book Week, and free dress days, just to name a few.

I find that if I even slightly drop the ball throughout a school week, I end up forgetting or missing an upcoming event, permission slip or payment deadline. The funny thing is, I’m a pretty organised person and I only have ONE child at school! Many mums have 2 or more at school, so they have double or triple the juggling to do.

Some weeks, there is so much going on, that I’m constantly double checking the school emails, their Facebook page, and text messages, just to make sure I haven’t gotten something. Heaven forbid I should send my daughter to school (again) in her school uniform on a free dress day!

School Mums need a planner!

One afternoon, during school pickup, I overheard a conversation between two mums. Okay, I eavesdropped into their conversation. They were talking about feeling a little overwhelmed trying to keep up with all the school correspondence coming in. One said she just wasn’t prepared for it. I think they must have been kindergarten (prep) mums. After hearing what they said, my first thought was, ‘So it’s not just me that feels like this!’

All of this got me thinking, and that’s when I came up with the idea of creating a yearly planner especially for school mums. It’s purpose is to help primary school mums breeze through each and every school day, and make the whole year run so much smoother.
