When my daughter started kindergarten, I became a first-time school mum, and honestly, I had no idea what I was stepping into. If I had to describe it now, I’d say this: Becoming a school mum is like taking on a part-time job you never actually applied for!

I had no clue that every school year came with such a full and lively calendar of events. Many of these happen every single year. In Australia, for example, we have swimming carnivals, athletics carnivals, Easter hat parades, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, Harmony Day, Book Week, free dress days… and that’s just scratching the surface.

Add to that the never-ending stream of school communications – emails, app notifications, and notes stuffed in school bags (which you eventually find crumpled up at the very bottom).

With only one child at school, I find that if I drop the ball during the week, I can easily miss an upcoming event, permission slip, or payment deadline — and I am an organised person. Many mums, though, have two, three, or more kids… which means double, triple, or quadruple the juggling!

Some weeks are so busy that I find myself constantly re-checking school emails, the Facebook page, and text message reminders – just to make sure I haven’t forgotten something important. Heaven forbid I forget it’s a dress-up or theme day… again. Oh, how my daughter hates that!

School Mums need a planner to stay ahead of the game!

One afternoon at school pickup, I overheard two mums chatting (okay… I may have been eavesdropping). They were saying how overwhelmed they felt trying to keep on top of all the school updates. One said she simply wasn’t prepared for it at all. They sounded like first-time kindergarten mums — and in that moment, I thought: “Okay, so it’s not just me.”

That conversation made me realise that so many school mums feel the same way i.e. busy, stretched, and trying their best not to miss anything.

That’s when the idea for The Complete School Mum Planner was born.

I created this planner to help mums breeze through each school week, stay ahead of important dates, and make the whole school year feel calmer, clearer, and so much easier to manage.
